The Montreal HorrorFest is proud to presents a double-feature special screening at the Mayfair Theatre during the Ottawa Commiccon. ” We were looking to make some screenings at the Mayfair Theatre for a while. ” says festival director Steve Villeneuve. ” With the Ottawa Comiccon in town, we believe that this is the perfect time for those kind of screenings. It’s fun to go to the theatre to see movies but it’s even better when the filmmakers are in the place for the screening and are willing to take some time after to run a Q&A. Having, Chris Alexander, the editor of the Fangoria Magazine there is amazing. We just learned that the beautiful Suzi Lorraine along with lot of people from the cast and the crew of Pin up Dolls on Ice will also be attended.”

Screenings Tickets for the event will be available at the Mayfair Theatre at the day of the event.

Blood for Irina.
Friday, May 10th, 2013, 11h30pm
USA 2012 – 70min
Directed by: Chris Alexander – Autonomy Picture
Cast: Shauna Henry, David Goodfellow, Carrie Gemmell, Andre Becker, Jason Tannis
http://mayfairtheatre.ca/movies/Blood-for-Irnia/

Irina (Shauna Henry) is dying. A predator who stalks streets at night looking for blood, she has lived over a century; tormented by memory, living in a run-down motel by the sea, Irina has reached the end. Her perceptions skewed, her body and mind revolting against themselves, she waits for an exit. Her private hell is echoed by the motel manager (David Goodfellow, who also co-produced), driven by an obsession to protect Irina and keep her secrets safe, and a broken prostitute (Carrie Gemmell) whose desperate plight may be worse than Irina¹s. It’s the tale of three people living a life on the fringe, trapped in world of literal and figurative decay.

Filmmaker Bio : Chris Alexander is a Toronto based writer, journalist, composer and filmmaker who is perhaps best known as the current editor-in-chief of legendary horror film magazine FANGORIA. The multiple award-winning BLOOD FOR IRINA marks his feature film debut, the first in a proposed series of existential, experimental female vampire pictures. He is currently in pre-production on the follow-up film, THE QUEEN OF BLOOD.

2. Pinup Dolls on Ice
Saturday, May 11th, 2013, 11h30pm
Canada 2013 – 85 min
Directed by Geoff Klein, BGOI Films
http://mayfairtheatre.ca/movies/Pinup-Dolls-on-Ice/

The Pinup Dolls are a hot retro act who put the tease back in striptease. But when an old friend (Suzi Lorraine) hires them to put on a show at a secluded campground, the girls find themselves being stalked by a homicidal maniac with a sick obsession with ice. As they’re hunted one-by-one, they soon realize they’ll have to rely on more than just their looks to survive this nightmare named Moe.

Filmmakers Bio : Canadian horror duo Geoff Klein and Melissa Mira are proud to release Pinup Dolls on Ice, their latest slice of old-school slasher mayhem. The Montreal-based production team are known for adhering to the unorthodox spirit of independent filmmaking: delivering high production value on a limited budget.

In 2008, Klein produced and directed the indie slasher film Bikini Girls on Ice. The film went on to achieve international success with screenings at over 20 film festivals. Two years later, Mira came on board to co-produce, co-direct, and star in the sequel, Pinup Dolls on Ice. Instead of learning their craft in a classroom, they’ve both sharpened their skills through actual on-set experiences. As a team, they strike an impressive balance between Klein’s visual aesthetics and Mira’s attention to detail.

Priding themselves on their ability to operate without the assistance of outside investors, Klein and Mira’s philosophy of “doing it their way” means they can remain true to their uncompromising vision of Canadian horror cinema.

Did you know? In 2011, Sorbo wrote a memoir, “TrueStrength”, about his sudden health crisis that left him partially blind and incapacitated at 38. He hid the full details about his condition from the press and continued to film Hercules. In the book, Sorbo shares a story of transformation, persistence, and hope in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

In addition to his role as Batman, Mr. West is most recognized for his voice work playing the fictionalized character Mayor Adam West on the animated series Family Guy. With over 50 films to his credit, and countless TV roles and appearances, Adam West is one of the few actors to have become a pop-culture character himself.

In 2003, West and Burt Ward starred in the TV-movie Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt, alongside Frank Gorshin, Julie Newmar, and Lee Meriwether. Ward is also tirelessly devoted to rescuing dogs and both he and his wife operate the largest giant breed dog rescue in the world, Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions.
